How To Get Married In Las Vegas

IMPORTANT: ALL LEGAL MARRIAGES REQUIRE A NEVADA ISSUED MARRIAGE LICENSE FROM THE MARRIAGE BUREAU IN LAS VEGAS. THIS LICENSE IS THE COUPLES RESPONSIBILITY TO OBTAIN IN ORDER TO PERFORM THE CEREMONY.

What is required? What do I need to know? Figuring out how to get married in Las Vegas can be a challenge when it comes to paperwork, but I've taken the extra time to sort it all out for you and make it simple!

You must both go, in person to the marriage license bureau, which is located on the ground floor of the Regional Justice Center in downtown Las Vegas.

Fees

  • A marriage license in Las Vegas costs $102.

Hours

  • 8am to midnight every day of the year including holidays.

Identification Requirements

  • You will need valid identification.

  • There is no waiting period or blood testing required.

  1. What is a marriage officiant? A person who officiates at a wedding ceremony.  Their main responsibility is to receive and witness the consent of the intended spouses and to ensure the legal formalities, and hence the validity of the marriage or civil union, are observed.

  2. What can I expect from you as my officiant?  You can expect a warm, professional officiant who will put you at ease to guide you throughout your entire planning process and during the ceremony.  To be appropriately dressed in ceremony attire. 

  3. What are “Symbolic Ceremonial Rituals”?  They are rituals that symbolize the unity of a couple, their family, and their friends, depending on the type of ritual you chose, such as Unity Candle, Sand, Rose, or Wine Ceremony, or other. (The Couple is responsible for furnishing all equipment needed to perform the chosen ritual(s)*

  4. Save The Date/Reservations:  To reserve your date and time, 50% deposit of the TOTAL PAYMENT is required at the time of booking. Reservations are based on availability.  The deposit applies to your total wedding cost. The reservation/deposit payment is non-refundable and necessary to Save The Date.

FINAL PAYMENT INCLUDING LATE FEES ARE  DUE BEFORE CEREMONY IS PERFORMED.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOUR OFFICIANT

  1. Is the officiant available on your wedding date?

  2. Can the officiant travel to your chosen wedding site?

  3. How long has the officiant been performing weddings? Why does he/she do them?

  4. Does the officiant have sample wording/ceremonies/readings to show you?

  5. Will the officiant let you specify ceremony details such as music, readings, and vows? Can you include religious touches if desired?

  6. Is the officiant available for a ceremony rehearsal?

  7. Does the officiant make you comfortable? Does he or she seem genuinely interested in you as a couple? Be sure you like and respect your officiant – and that the feeling is mutual.

  8. Would the officiant (and his/her spouse) like to come to the reception and rehearsal dinner?
